July 5 2018 The California City Whiptails defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 2-1. California City finished with eight hits and scored in the fourth and sixth innings, while Monterey collected four hits and scored once in the fifth.

Nick Snyder led the Whiptails with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Tino Mention, Wardy Polanco, Carson Lee, Hunter Villanueva, Garrett Totty and Albert Neff also recorded hits for California City. Monterey�s Kevin Connolly homered and drove in the Amberjacks� only run, while Ronald Jackson, Ethan Skowronski and Dynas Doud added one hit apiece.

Albert Neff earned the win after allowing one run on four hits in eight innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Justin Kortessis worked a hitless ninth for the save. Monterey starter Evan Bertone took the loss after giving up two runs on seven hits in six innings with three strikeouts and one walk; Andrew Arnold pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
