June 18 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 8-7 in a neutral-site game at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. Tucson scored in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead before Monterey erupted for six runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth. The Saguaros answered with three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the comeback victory.
Riley Richarz led Tucson’s 12-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and one RBI. Caleb Wichman added two hits, two doubles, one run and one RBI, while Garrett Mack went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Evan Douglas delivered a key two-run single as a pinch hitter, and Jordan Garnett contributed Tucson’s only home run of the game, a solo shot.
Will Morris earned the win after allowing two hits and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. Dan Clemens worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and four runs, only one earned, with three strikeouts. Monterey’s Cip Garza went five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out four, and Aaron Cook was charged with the loss after allowing two hits and two runs without recording an out.
