California City Whiptails Beat Monterey Amberjacks 12-6

May 30 2018 The California City Whiptails defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 12-6 at Balsitis Park. California City scored seven runs in the first inning and added single runs in the third and fifth before putting the game away with three runs in the eighth. Monterey scored once in the first and third innings and four times in the fifth but could not close the gap.

Eli Roundtree led California City with two hits and four RBI including a home run. Scott Stetson went 2-for-5 with two RBI while Carson Lee had two hits and two runs scored. Tino Mention scored twice and stole two bases. Monterey received three hits and three runs from Chuck Rocker while Michael Hungate went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Paul Garcia added a home run and two RBI.

Ty Rowe earned the win for California City after allowing eight hits and six runs four earned in 6.1 innings. He walked three and struck out six. Albert Neff followed with two scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out two. Jerome Byndloss took the loss for Monterey despite recording 10 strikeouts; he allowed nine hits and nine runs eight earned in seven innings with four walks.

California City finished with 10 hits and four errors while Monterey collected 10 hits and committed one error. The Whiptails completed the scoring with their three-run eighth inning and held Monterey scoreless over the final four innings.
