Monterey Amberjacks Defeat Lancaster Sound Breakers 11-5

July 16 2023 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Lancaster Sound Breakers 11-5 after building an early lead and scoring in five innings. Monterey struck for three runs in the first inning, added two in the second and three in the fourth to take an 8-0 advantage. Lancaster answered with three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, but the Amberjacks added two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to secure the win.

Greg Salazar earned the victory for Monterey, allowing five hits and four runs, three earned, in seven innings while striking out eight and walking none. Nick Samudio allowed one run in one inning and Dominic Scotti worked a scoreless ninth. Gilberto Rosario took the loss for Lancaster after giving up 10 hits and eight runs, seven earned, in five innings with five strikeouts and four walks.

Salazar also led Monterey’s offense with two hits and five RBIs. Rodney Scarver went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, while Adrian Garcia collected two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. Lancaster was led by Kyle Jenkins, who had three hits, two runs and two RBIs while hitting two home runs and a double. Andrew Castano and Cal Bocchino also homered for the Sound Breakers.
