Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Vallejo Seaweed 5-3

July 14 2023 The Monterey Amberjacks overcame an early deficit and defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 5-3. Monterey finished with seven hits and scored in the first third sixth and seventh innings while Vallejo collected 11 hits but was held scoreless after the third inning.

Dominic Scotti delivered a key offensive performance for Monterey, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Robert Malone scored twice and drove in one run while hitting a home run and drawing two walks. Vallejo’s Sean Jackson hit a home run, scored once and drove in one run, while Mickey Nunes and Jalen Ford each recorded two hits.

Monterey took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Vallejo answered with one run in the second and two in the third. The Amberjacks tied the game with a run in the third, moved ahead with a run in the sixth and added two runs in the seventh to secure the victory.

Nick Samudio earned the win after allowing two hits and no runs with four strikeouts in three innings. Dominic Scotti followed with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one for the save. Vallejo starter Phil Rowland took the loss after allowing five hits and four runs, three earned, in five innings.
