June 17 2023 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Dublin Leprechauns 27-6 after pounding out 20 hits at Sollectio Park. Monterey built an early 6-2 lead through three innings before scoring seven runs in the sixth five in the seventh and nine in the eighth. Dublin finished with 11 hits and scored three times in the seventh but could not overcome the deficit.
Robert Malone led Monterey with three hits three runs and five RBIs while
Anthony Ward scored five runs and posted three hits three walks and three RBIs.
Sean Bennett added three hits five runs and two RBIs and
Tristan Cavazos went 4-for-6 with three runs and four RBIs. Malone and
Greg Salazar each hit a home run while
Anthony Ward contributed a double and a triple.
Salazar earned the win after allowing 11 hits and six runs in seven innings. He walked one and struck out eight.
Daniel Benavidez completed the game with two scoreless innings allowing no hits while striking out two.
Dublins offense was paced by
Kairee Tekra who collected three hits and scored twice.
Saul Razo had two hits and two RBIs while
Josue Rivera hit a home run and drove in a run.
Meltavis Robertson took the loss after surrendering 14 runs including 13 earned on 10 hits in 6.1 innings with nine walks and five strikeouts.
