Monterey Amberjacks Edge Santa Cruz Seaweed 2-1

July 10 2021 The Monterey Amberjacks held off the Santa Cruz Seaweed 2-1 behind a complete-game effort from Dan Monear. Monterey scored once in the fifth and again in the sixth before Santa Cruz answered with a run in the seventh. Monear allowed three hits and one run over seven innings while striking out nine and walking two. He threw 92 pitches with 61 strikes to earn the win. Santa Cruz starter Gabe Katich also went the distance, giving up six hits and two runs with nine strikeouts and two walks in seven innings. AJ Pollack led Monterey with two hits including a double and drove in a run. Kyle Montebon also collected two hits, while Adrian Martinez added a hit and an RBI. Santa Cruz received one hit apiece from Jeremiah Farris, Grant Goff and Jon Collins, with Nick McHugh recording the Seaweeds lone RBI. Monterey finished with six hits and Santa Cruz had three.
