Monterey Amberjacks Rally Past Santa Cruz Seaweed 7-5

June 19 2021 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Santa Cruz Seaweed 7-5 at Joe Bauman Park, overcoming an early deficit with runs in four innings. Monterey finished with six hits, while Santa Cruz collected seven hits and committed one error.

Santa Cruz scored three times in the first inning, but Monterey answered with two runs in the bottom half and added single runs in the second and third innings to take a 4-3 lead. The Seaweed tied the game with one run in the fifth and moved ahead 5-4 with another in the sixth before the Amberjacks erupted for three runs in the seventh to secure the win.

Joe Riddle led Santa Cruz with a home run, three RBI and one run scored. Tyler Chilton also homered and drove in one run, while Robbie Carling and Michael Green each recorded two hits. Montereys AJ Pollack went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, one RBI and one walk. DAnthony Rice added a home run and three RBI, and Issac DAgostino contributed a double and one RBI.

Malcom Vasquez earned the win for Monterey with a complete seven-inning performance, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out two and issuing no walks. Gabe Katich took the loss after allowing four earned runs on three hits in five innings, despite recording seven strikeouts. Jacob Trujillo pitched the final 1.2 innings for Santa Cruz and allowed three runs.
