July 28 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 18-12 in a high-scoring game at Sollectio Park. Tucson collected 16 hits and scored in each of the first four innings before breaking the game open with a seven-run sixth. Monterey also finished with 16 hits but committed the games only error.
Evan Douglas led Tucsons offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with four runs and seven RBI. He hit two home runs, while Shawn Barrowdale added two hits and three RBI. Daniel Diaz went 3-for-5 with three runs, and Riley Richarz and Caleb Wichman each recorded two hits and two RBI.
Tucson built an 11-5 lead through five innings, then scored seven times in the sixth to take an 18-7 advantage. Monterey answered with one run in the seventh and four in the eighth, but could not close the gap. Coleman Poje and Austin Marcellus each homered for Monterey, with both players collecting three hits; Marcellus also drove in two runs.
Robby Medel earned the win for Tucson after allowing 10 hits and five runs in five innings, with three earned runs and four strikeouts. Jonathan Vance took the loss for Monterey, surrendering 14 hits and 18 runs in 5.1 innings, including 16 earned runs. Hunter Parkinson followed with 3.2 scoreless innings and four strikeouts for the Amberjacks.
