Monterey Amberjacks Beat Bakersfield Train Robbers 4-2

July 22 2019 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 4-2 in a seven-inning game. Monterey scored once in the fourth inning before adding three runs in the seventh to break open a 2-1 game. Bakersfield scored twice in the third inning but was held scoreless over the final four innings.

Monterey collected 10 hits, led by Coleman Poje and James Prockish with two apiece. Poje drove in one run and scored once, while Morgan Blatnik, Nathaniel Thompson and Austin Marcellus each recorded an RBI. Thompson and Marcellus hit doubles. Bakersfield finished with five hits, including Jarel McDade’s two-run home run, his fourth of the season. McDade also scored once and drew a walk.

Jonathan Vance earned the win for Monterey after allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings. He struck out five and walked one. Ulysses Ramos worked a scoreless seventh with one strikeout and one walk to earn the save. Bakersfield starter Garrett Alvarez took the loss despite striking out nine; he allowed eight hits and four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. S. Valenzuela pitched the final two-thirds of an inning for Bakersfield.
